Phi Beta Kappa Book Awards, 1962 - 1966

 File — Box: 49

Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Arranged alphabetically, subject correspondence by topic and individual correspondence by surname.

This series includes subject and individual correspondence. A group of unsorted items precedes each letter in the alphabet. For example, all unsorted correspondence (subject and individual) that begins with the letter "A" have been filed before the sorted alphabetical arrangement of items that begin with the letter "A". Overall, the correspondence in this series documents many of the activities Steere was involved with during the late 1950's through the early 1970's. A few key activities documented here include the beginnings of Cary Arboretum, the founding of the Cultural Institutions Group (CIG), and the cooperative efforts in biological studies between the United States and Japan.
