 File — Box: 6

Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

The Subject Files consist of correspondence relating to a specific topic rather to a particular person or organization. Robbins received and replied to considerable correspondence from the general public. These letters were originally sorted alphabetically by family name, but they have been regrouped by topic. Information Requests contains the letters asking questions about the garden or about plants in general. Donations contains offers to donate plants or other items to the garden. Invitations contains requests for Robbins to appear at various events, as well as his replies. Membership contains a selection of letters asking for information about how to become a member of the garden, as well as Robbins’ form reply. Many of these letters were discarded due to redundancy of content. Permits contains requests to take pictures within the garden and the letters giving permission. Publicity contains correspondence relating to publications running stories about NYBG or using images of the garden. Sample Requests contains letters from professionals asking for scientific samples to be sent to them. Scientific contains correspondence with professionals, rather than members of the general public. Visitors contains correspondence about people of note visiting the garden.
