Series 1: Correspondence, 1920 - 1980

This series is divided into three sub-series: Individuals and Organizations, Subject Files, and Location Files. Each Sub-Series is arranged alphabetically, subject correspondence by topic and individual correspondence by surname.

The Individual and Organizational correspondence is inter-filed in an alphabetical sequence. A group of unsorted items for individual precedes each letter in the alphabetical sequence. For example, unsorted correspondence with individuals with the letter "A" precede sorted correspondence with the letter "A." Overall, the correspondence in this series document many of the activities in which Robbins as well as NYBG were involved during his Administration.

The Subject Files consist of correspondence relating to a specific topic rather to a particular person or organization. The Location Files are sorted by the country or wider geographic area that the correspondence arrived from.
