Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Arranged alphabetically.

This series documents both the founding years and the early years development of NYBG. Records include individual correspondence and general administrative papers. The bulk of the records consist of Nathaniel Lord Britton’s correspondence. These records include correspondence of the Secretary of the Board and correspondence of the Director (Chief Executive Officer). This is because the NYBG Chief Executive Officer served as both the Secretary of the Board and the Director until William J. Robbins was appointed NYBG Director in 1937.
