 Series

Scope and Contents

Arranged by topic.

This series is divided into two Sub-Series: Construction Programs, and Department of Parks. This series documents NYBG's constructions and physical planning activities during Robbins' Administration. Records include formal proposals, maps, technical drawings, financial studies, correspondence, photographs, and contracts. Specific projects documented in the Construction Programs Sub-Series include the construction of the Laboratory Building, the rehabilitation of the Conservatory, the establishment of the Plant Disease House, the space problems in the Museum Building, and the transfer of the Rose Garden. The Department of Parks Sub-Series primarily consists of correspondence between NYBG and New York City Department of Parks. The correspondence mostly deals with construction and planning budgets. Robert Moses, who was then the Commissioner of New York City's Department of Parks, is featured significantly in this correspondence.
