Biographical / Historical
William Cashman Ferguson was born on November 19, 1861 in Brooklyn, New York. In 1887, he received his PhD in chemistry from Columbia University. He specialized in applied chemistry with a particular interest in metallurgy. In the last decade of his life, he became interested in the flora of Long Island, New York. He wrote several articles on this subject which were published in the Bulletin of the Torrey Botanical Club from 1924 to 1926. He died in Hempstead, New York on June 3, 1930.
