Scope and Contents

This subseries contains written questionnaire responses from participants in a research study on the knowledge and use of medicinal plants by the Dominican community in New York City and the Dominican Republic. Through these surveys, participants describe various medicinal uses of herbs or other plant-based home remedies, including which plants they use and the ailments they treat. All participants have been anonymized to protect their identities. Participant IDs in the folder titles correspond to recorded interviews in “Series 3: Audiovisual Media.”

This collection is open for research by appointment. Access to audiovisual materials may be restricted due to preservation and handling concerns. The interview participant key is restricted indefinitely to protect the privacy of the interviewees.
