Series 2: Research Papers, 1980 - 2010, bulk: 1981 - 2000

This series contains correspondence, notes, data, reports, and publications related to Charles Peters’s research on tropical forestry, forest management, and indigenous silviculture. Plant species specifically documented in this series include Brosimum alicastrum, Myrciaria dubia, Spondias mombin, and Grias peruviana, as well as other native fruits of the Peruvian Amazon. Much of this material documents Peters’s research in Mexico, Peru, and West Kalimantan (Indonesia). Field books documenting his work on rattan in Vietnam can be found in “Series 4: Field Notebooks.”

This series also contains 35mm photographic slides, largely organized by location. The “Labeled” slides include labels provided by Peters that identify the content and location. Subjects include Peters and his field crew, forest clearing, community forest management, markets and street vendors, animals, temples, and various plants, including Durio zibethinus, Pourouma cecropiifolia, Myrciaria dubia, and Brosimum alicastrum. Locations represented include the Peruvian Amazon, Papua New Guinea, Mexico, Peru, Uganda, Nepal, and West Kalimantan. The unidentified slides contain similar content but are largely unlabeled.
