Scope and Contents

This series contains documents related to Board business that are not filed with their meetings. Topics include committee assignments, strategic planning, the Annual Giving Program, grant applications, the Institute of Ecosystem Studies, the Distinguished Service Award, the Department of Cultural Affairs of New York City, and the Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Program for Molecular Systematics Studies. General correspondence includes folders for the United States Congress (1976-1983), The Wetlands Institute (1984), and the World Wildlife Fund for Endangered Species (1978-1979). Grant applications include information on applications to the Institute of Museum Services (1973-1979) and the Kresge Foundation (1984). Additionally, this series contains Board mailings, which consist of correspondence sent from Gregory Long to Board members, providing news and updates about members, staff, and the Garden in general.

Conditions Governing Access

Meeting minutes and supporting documentation are restricted for 50 years from the date of creation. Board member files are restricted for 50 years following the member’s death. Please contact the archives with any questions regarding access to materials in this collection.
